A supportive and inclusive secondary school in Enfield, North London are looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting children aged 11-16 with a range of additionl needs. The school are keen to ensure that no child is left behind, and they have a learning environment that supports every student. You would be joining a close knit and integral SEN department, working closely with the SENDCo, HLTAs and other SEN Teaching Assistants. If you are a proactive and caring individual looking to make a difference to the lives of young people, working as a SEN Teaching Assistant role could be the right fit for you.

The school are looking for a friendly and proactive individual who has previous experience with children with additional needs. They are also ideally looking for someone with experience supporting children/young adults within a school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing one-to-one and group support to children with SEN, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Implementing tailored learning strategies and interventions as directed by the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
  • Collaborating with teachers and other support staff to ensure the individual needs of students are met effectively.
  • Assisting with the planning and delivery of differentiated activities to support student progress.
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience with children with additional needs
  • Previous experience in a school setting
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Strong understanding of various Special Educational Needs and associated support strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting the diverse needs of students.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support (desirable but not essential).
