Reed are partnered with a governmental body responsible for the management, maintenance, development, and restoration of inland navigable waterways and related infrastructure. They are seeking a Senior Engineer to lead and manage engineering projects across the island of Ireland. This role is based in Enniskillen and offers a challenging and rewarding environment where you can contribute to significant infrastructure projects.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Lead the development, design, and construction of new and refurbishment projects associated with the inland navigable waterway system.
  • Manage contractors and consultants employed by Waterways Ireland, ensuring compliance and value for money.
  • Work with minimal supervision, managing engineering staff and liaising with staff in other divisions and external stakeholders.
  • Undertake studies and evaluations of projects, prepare recommendations and reports, and develop design solutions from concept to commissioning.
  • Manage the delivery of construction works and design studies, ensuring projects are delivered to programme and budget.
  • Collaborate with environmental officers and external bodies to ensure environmental compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of health and safety legislation and ensure compliance in all aspects of work.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Degree (2.2 or above) in Civil or Structural Engineering, qualifying for full chartered membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers or Engineers Ireland.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant post-qualification experience in the design and delivery of civil/structural engineering projects.
  • Experience in developing design solutions, managing tendering procedures, contract administration, and supervising construction works.
  • Strong project management skills, capable of delivering multiple projects within agreed budgets and tight schedules.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience managing people resources.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and IT-based surveying equipment.
  • Full driving licence and access to transport for travel throughout Ireland.
