Trainee Electrical Design Engineer - Surrey
We are seeking an enthusiastic, analytical, and forward-thinking Trainee Electrical Design Engineer to develop the skills required for ensuring the safe adoption of distribution networks operating up to 11kV. This role offers hands-on training and mentorship to help you gain expertise in network design, compliance, and asset management.
Key Responsibilities

Assisting with compliance checks for design, construction, and safety standards.

Supporting senior engineers in liaising with customers regarding network design issues.

Learning to evaluate applications from other network operators or customers for connections onto networks, including network reinforcement assessments.

Supporting the management of relationships with upstream parties for capacity and demand negotiations.

Assisting in the creation of CAD designs and drawings where required.

Gaining experience in developing safety and risk assessment requirements for design and adoption stages.

Understanding and contributing to compliance with health and safety policies.

Supporting the implementation of asset management system requirements.

Participating in reviews and updates of operational procedures and technical standards.
Person Specification

Interest in electricity design/analysis with a willingness to learn IT-based design software.

Exposure to or interest in software modeling tools such as Windebut, Amtech, IPSA, or similar is beneficial.

A proactive, flexible, and adaptable approach to learning in a fast-paced environment.

Training and mentorship will be provided to help develop the necessary skills for the role.
