An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, self-motivated, forward-thinking and highly commercial individual to develop their career as the new Club General Manager (CGM) to join the Board at Epsom Golf Club in Surrey.
Due to a recent corporate business re-structure within CASC arrangements, alongside the sad recent loss of their Director of Golf, the Club has created this new position. The selected individual will deliver a viable commercial operation by developing & driving new initiatives leading to membership & revenue growth. The Role:
Operating at an executive level and in accordance with the policies determined by the Board of Directors, the new CGM will manage all aspects of club business in a highly efficient and effective manner. You will work with a modern and progressive Board who will be supportive and welcoming, so the role could be suitable for an ambitious Deputy looking for their first Club General Managers position.
The Club are looking for an engaging personality with a hands-on approach to management & leadership and an entrepreneurial flair. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate skills to drive new member initiatives and develop other income streams as well as leading, coaching, developing and supporting a small management team and front line staff to deliver a high level of service to members and their guests.
Personal Skills and Characteristics:
Strong and proactive leader with proven management, interpersonal, organisational and administrative skills; bright, with an attention to detail, you will have boundless energy and be up-for learning
Financial literacy, proven experience in financial management and control systems, including the development of budgets and the preparation of monthly accounts with value added analysis, commentary & recommendations.
Demonstrate an outstanding ability to communicate both internally and externally, relate to people of all backgrounds & have the ability to manage up to the Board as well as the staff
Strong general IT skills with an understanding of golf industry management systems, particularly Club Systems and Sage Accounts;
Sound working knowledge of basic agronomics and course presentation;
Ability to command respect and offer the highest possible standards of integrity and diplomacy along with gravitas, common sense and good sense of humour;
Appreciation of the traditions of golf and its rules together with the ethos of a private members club;
A professional manner with an outgoing, focused style who will always strive to create the best member and guest experience in a professional manner;
An accommodating/flexible approach and commitment to work flexible hours including some evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.
