Job specification:

  • Support fee earners with digital dictation and in-office tasks.
  • Prepare documents, including transcribing dictation.
  • Manage filing, including opening, closing, and retrieving client files as per office procedures.
  • Handle mail and enclosures for dispatch.
  • Coordinate copying tasks.
  • Schedule appointments, arrange meetings, and maintain diaries for fee earners.
  • Prepare and tidy the conference room, providing refreshments if needed.
  • Assist other secretaries as required.
  • Provide professional client support both in person and by phone.
  • Complete required training and take responsibility for self-development.
  • Ensure confidentiality.
  • Fill out online forms.
  • Use the case management system.

Person specification:

  • Fast typing speed and advanced IT skills.
  • Substantial previous legal secretarial experience (essential).
  • High accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proactive, positive, and client focused.
  • Able to meet deadlines, work under pressure, prioritise tasks, and collaborate in a team.
  • Committed to the firm and legal work.
  • Courteous and respectful to colleagues and clients.
  • Willing to take on additional tasks as needed.
  • Familiar with Practice Evolve or other case management systems.
  • Knowledge of legal practices.
