Production Shift Manager/ Area Manager Role Overview:

Reporting directly into the Factory Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations within your shift, ensuring production schedules are met, and driving performance in key areas such as safety, quality, cost, and delivery. You will lead a team, optimise processes, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the business while ensuring the production of safe and compliant products.

Key Responsibilities of the Production Shift Manager:

  • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of operatives to meet production targets while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Oversee and execute production schedules, ensuring that all customer requirements are met on time and in full.
  • Drive performance across safety, quality, cost, and delivery metrics, ensuring that key KPIs are achieved consistently.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, customer codes of practice, and internal quality standards.
  • Proactively identify areas for continuous improvement and lead initiatives to optimise processes and reduce waste.
  • Collaborate closely with other Managers in your peer group to ensure smooth shift transitions and effective communication across teams.
  • Lead training, coaching, and induction programmes to develop and retain talent within the team.
  • Provide regular updates and feedback to senior management on performance, issues, and achievements.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years of experience in leadership roles within the FMCG or food manufacturing sectors.
  • Proven track record in managing medium to large teams and achieving operational KPIs.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to engage, motivate, and develop teams at all levels.
  • Experience in managing production environments, ensuring compliance with health and safety, food safety, and quality standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with clients and stakeholders.
  • A hands-on leader who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with a focus on continuous improvement.
