Look no further, as we have a Special Educational Needs (SEN) School who are looking for a Graduate Aspiring Speech and Language Therapist to work as a SEN Learning Support Assistant for the remainder of this academic year. You will be supporting a small class, working in partnership with the school's teaching staff and support staff team to deliver specific interventions that aim to boost students' language acquisition.
You will have the opportunity to work alongside a qualified Speech and Language Therapists (SALT), and deliver interventions to children with speech, language and communicational needs both in a small group and 1:1. You will make a real difference to the lives of the children, gaining vital experience which will enable you to kick-start your future career as a Speech and Language Therapist.
The School:
This school is located near Epsom and is for children aged 4-19, who require the support of a specialised curriculum to enable them to thrive and reach their full potential. This school has a Therapy Department, consisting of Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists.
This Graduate Aspiring Speech and Language Therapist role is an excellent opportunity to work closely and network with other teams of professionals, gaining relevant experience, expanding your knowledge and skillset. This role will give you essential experience within a challenging yet rewarding setting - career progression routes include SEN Teacher, Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist and various Child Psychology routes.
Job role and responsibilities of the Graduate Aspiring Speech and Language Therapist:
- Assist the class teacher in providing the learning experience of students
- Behaviour and pastoral support
- Ability to build robust and effective relationships with students
- Practical approach to meet the individual needs of students
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Caring, compassionate, and a good listener
- Willing to work 1:1 and in small groups with students
- Ensure safeguarding of students
- Attend staff meetings and complete appropriate CPD
