Our client, a leading commercial glazing and shopfront specialist, is seeking a highly skilled Estimator to join their team. This role involves preparing accurate cost estimates for glazing, aluminium shopfronts, curtain walling, and related installations across a variety of commercial projects.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the commercial glazing or façade industry, with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to liaise effectively with suppliers, contractors, and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for commercial glazing and shopfront projects.
  • Analyse project drawings, specifications, and tender documents to determine materials, labour, and time requirements.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Source and negotiate prices with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure cost-effective procurement.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and stay updated on material costs and industry trends.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender submissions and contract pricing.
  • Provide detailed breakdowns and justifications for cost estimates to support business development efforts.
  • Work closely with project managers, site teams, and clients to ensure estimates align with project requirements.
  • Attend site visits to assess project conditions and gather essential data for accurate pricing.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, tender documents, and project costings.
  • Provide regular reports on estimating activities and project costs to senior management.

Key Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator in the commercial glazing, shopfront, or façade industry.
  • Strong knowledge of aluminium shopfronts, curtain walling, glass installations, and related materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).

Desirable:

  • HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Construction, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software.
  • Understanding of UK building regulations and industry standards for glazing and shopfront installations.
