Learning Support Assistant
Salary: Ā£14.67 per hourLocation: Erith, LondonContract Type: Temporary until 4th July 2025, 35 hours per week

The Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with curriculum staff and support teams to:
- Facilitate learners' access to and achievement in their study programmes.
- Assist in their personal development, study skills, and educational outcomes, including those outlined in Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Support learners' social and academic progress, encouraging independence and self-advocacy.
- Provide assistance with personal care, mobility, and well-being as required.
- Ensure learners can fully utilise college services and activities.
- Implement intervention strategies to overcome learning barriers.
- Maintain and ensure the functionality of assistive technology and specialist equipment.
- Assist in reviewing learnersā progress and updating individual support plans.
- Liaise with parents, key workers, and external agencies where necessary.
About You
We are looking for individuals who are committed to supporting SEN learners in an educational setting. The ideal candidate will have:
- A good standard of education, with at least Level 2 in Maths and English or a willingness to achieve this qualification.
- Experience working in a multi-cultural environment.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and experience maintaining a safe learning environment.
- An understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with learning difficulties and a sensitive approach to their needs.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- IT literacy and an ability to work proactively and independently.
- A flexible, adaptable, and positive approach to work.
Experience working with SEN learners in a secondary or further education setting is desirable, as is the ability to communicate using MAKATON, BSL, or Sign-a-Long.
