Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Intervention: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' occupational needs, develop individual care plans, and provide evidence-based interventions to support recovery.
  • Acute Medicine Focus: Provide occupational therapy services to patients within an acute medical setting, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to address a wide range of medical conditions.
  • Patient-Centered Care: Ensure that therapy interventions are tailored to the specific needs and goals of each patient, promoting independence and improving overall quality of life.
  • Rehabilitation and Recovery: Support patients in their rehabilitation process by designing and implementing therapeutic activities to aid recovery and prevent long-term disability.
  • Discharge Planning: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to plan and facilitate smooth patient discharges, ensuring appropriate follow-up care and support.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in line with NHS guidelines and contribute to team meetings and audits.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified Occupational Therapist: You must hold a degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience in Acute Medicine: Previous experience working in an acute medical setting is highly desirable, with a solid understanding of medical conditions and treatment protocols.
  • Strong Assessment and Treatment Skills: A good level of competency in carrying out assessments, identifying goals, and implementing evidence-based interventions.
  • Team Player: Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and social workers.
  • Excellent Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to a fast-paced environment and manage a varied caseload.
  • Availability: Immediate start, with the flexibility to consider full-time or part-time hours.
