Your new companyMy client specialises in providing a range of ecological, hydrological, and environmental engineering services. Their expertise includes conducting ecology surveys, flood risk assessments, water resource management, and environmental compliance. They are known for their innovative and pragmatic approach, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and codes of practice. Your new roleMy client is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Hydrologist to join their dynamic team. You will play a key role in managing and delivering hydrological projects, providing expert advice, and contributing to the development of innovative solutions to water-related challenges. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage hydrological studies and projects, including flood risk assessments, water resource management, and environmental impact assessments.
  • Develop and apply hydrological models to simulate water flow and quality in various environments.
  • Analyse and interpret hydrological data to inform decision-making and policy development.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for clients and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, environmental scientists, and planners.
  • Conduct site visits as necessary.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior hydrologists and other team members.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in hydrology and related fields.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in Hydrology, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Consultancy experience in hydrology or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of hydrological modeling software and GIS applications.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage projects and lead teams.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ideally, chartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g., CIWEM, ICE).
  • Knowledge of UK water legislation and policies.
