Principal Engineer
Salary: £60,000 - £65,000

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to lead our software development initiatives. This role involves designing and implementing innovative software solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of software with hardware systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in system design and mechanical knowledge, alongside proficiency in various engineering tools.
Duties
- Lead the design and development of software applications, ensuring high performance and responsiveness.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate software with mechanical systems, utilising knowledge of Tekla, CAD and schematics.
- Develop and maintain system designs using MATLAB and Simulink for simulation and analysis purposes.
- Implement control algorithms for logic controllers, ensuring robust functionality across various applications.
- Conduct thorough testing and validation of software components, employing tools such as LabView for data acquisition and analysis.
- Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on best practices in software development and system design.
- Ensure compliance with GD&T standards throughout the design process, promoting quality and precision in all deliverables.
- Participate in project planning meetings, contributing technical expertise to project timelines and resource allocation.
Skills
- Proficiency in system design principles and methodologies.
- Strong experience with Simulink for modelling dynamic systems.
- Familiarity with CAD tools and Tekla.
- Advanced skills in MATLAB for algorithm development and data analysis.
- Experience with logic controllers programming and implementation.
- Knowledge of GD&T standards to ensure quality control in designs.
- Experience with SolidWorks for 3D modelling is advantageous.
