Commercial AccountantExeter, Devon£35,000 - £40,000 per annum

Our client, a leading manufacturing business based within the Southwest, is currently seeking an adept Commercial Accountant to join their dynamic team on a full-time, permanent basis.

As the Commercial Accountant, you will play a vital role in ensuring financial accuracy and delivering key management insights to drive business performance. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for providing essential commercial support, while also contributing to various cross-functional initiatives within the finance team.

The responsibilities:

  • Provide commercial support to the Commercial Team through detailed sales reporting, cost analysis, and financial insights to aid decision-making.
  • Set up and manage customer rebate programs, ensuring accurate calculations and timely administration.
  • Oversee and calculate commodity-linked tracker prices to provide accurate pricing information to the Commercial Team.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting and banking transactions, including operations and deposits, to optimise financial planning.
  • Conduct monthly analysis of sales and margin variances, providing commentary to drive performance improvements.
  • Perform month-end overhead analysis for cost centres and distribution expenses to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and submit statutory reports and surveys, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes to support the development of accurate financial plans.
  • Manage fixed asset reporting, ensuring proper accounting and depreciation.
  • Prepare audit and tax documentation, ensuring accurate and timely submission.
  • Provide backup support for other finance roles as needed, ensuring smooth departmental operations.

The candidate:

  • Fully or partially qualified accountant with proven experience in a similar role, showcasing a strong track record in financial management.
  • Proficient in accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications, with advanced skills in Excel; SAP experience is a plus.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented approach with strong accuracy and commitment.
  • Capable of prioritising tasks, managing workload, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for resolving financial issues effectively.
