About the role:

Butler Rose is working on behalf of a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation based in Exeter. Due to continued growth we are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant who has achieved AAT Level 4 qualification (or equivalent) to join their team. This role is perfect for someone who is looking to build their career in finance while contributing to a fast-paced and supportive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and journal entries.
• Maintain and reconcile ledgers, including bank reconciliations and balance sheet accounts.
• Process invoices, payments, and expense claims in a timely and accurate manner.
• Support the preparation of VAT returns and other statutory reporting.
• Provide assistance in budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Collaborate with external auditors and support the year-end audit process.
• Respond to internal and external financial queries.
• Continuously improve and streamline accounting processes.

What We're Looking For

• AAT Level 4 Qualification or equivalent (essential).
• Proven experience in a similar role, with strong accounting and bookkeeping skills.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• A proactive attitude with excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
