Senior Bridge Engineer

Location: Exeter

Are you ready to play a key role in delivering innovative civil and bridge engineering projects? Our client is expanding their team and seeking a motivated Senior Engineer to join them. Based in Exeter, this is your opportunity to drive high-quality projects, manage critical tasks, and support the development of junior engineers.

The Role:

  • Lead and contribute to bridge design, strengthening, repair, inspections, and assessments.
  • Provide civil and structural engineering support across diverse teams.
  • Assist in conducting feasibility studies and options appraisals.
  • Prepare and review specifications, reports, and health and safety risk assessments.
  • Contribute to the development and review of CDM documentation, including Pre-Construction Information Packs.
  • Review design drawings and support the preparation of fee estimates.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, helping to foster their professional growth.

Requirements:

  • Chartered status or working towards it with the Institution of Civil Engineers (CEng MICE) or Institution of Structural Engineers (MIStructE).
  • Solid experience in bridge design, maintenance, and assessment.
  • Familiarity with Eurocodes and/or sector-specific standards (e.g., Network Rail standards, DMRB).
  • Proficiency in finite element analysis software and a good understanding of parametric design techniques.
  • Strong commercial awareness and a solid understanding of managing project costs.
  • Excellent report-writing, communication, and client-handling skills.
  • A proactive approach to taking on new challenges and a passion for mentoring others.
