Planning Lead - Exeter

Danny Sullivan Group are currently recruiting for a Planning Lead for a role with a growing civil engineering contractor specialising in marine, flood defence, environment agency and port projects. They are part of a much large construction group that operates as a Tier 1 contractor across the UK.

They are looking for a candidate to join their team for their newly established regional office in the Exeter area. Ideal candidate would have strong experience working in heavily regulated civil engineering environments and also have a strong engineering background on similar projects to assist the site teams and senior personnel within the company with planning projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Show expert knowledge of planning practices through different sectors focusing on the benefits of different approaches
  • Show expert knowledge and experience of planning tools that are used in the industry
  • Commercial and contact knowledge through different forms of contract seen as the time and change experts in their sector.
  • Drive delivery of the programme and demonstrate productivity improvements.
  • Become an effective people manager and leader of their planning team.
  • 4d planning and integration of visuals into the programme delivery. This is a key area of development within the company
  • Project controls and detailed planning dashboards/reporting
  • Develop leadership skills
  • Effective communication skills when dealing with Executive and Senior Management teams
  • Roles and crucial requirements for next step:
  • Lead a working group to drive the planning function forward with new developments and approaches
  • Create and deliver training to the wider team to develop communication skills.

Experience/qualifications:
  • Exposure of working as a Primavera P6 project planner on large scale civil engineering / infrastructure projects ideally for a tier 1 contractor or large subcontractor
  • Construction related degree (civil/structural engineering, or construction/project management or equivalent).
  • Digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships and lead strong, motivated teams.
  • Experience of working on large marine, flood defence, port and MOD projects would be favourable
  • Planning of complicated infrastructure projects and summarisation of these into portfolio level schedules.
  • Experienced P6 user (P6 pro).
  • Familiarisation with P6 EPPM (Web) for config management see below
  • Management of large data sets into simple reporting formats, through coding and layout manipulation
  • Microsoft Project, Asta Power Project.
  • P6 configuration management - user access, OBS creation and management, user profiles, OBS assignation.

This is an exciting role for a candidate looking to further their career and build their own team to cover pre-construction and site delivery for this client. Their pipeline of work for the next 3 years is extensive with over £250m worth of work forecast across a wide geographical area covering the South of England.
