Building Surveyor
I am currently working with a company seeking a Building Surveyor to conduct detailed condition surveys and asbestos compliance checks across a diverse range of properties, including corporate buildings, depots, schools, libraries, and tenanted farms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct asset condition surveys to help clients prioritize funding for repairs, maintenance, and improvements.
- Prepare schedules of condition, dilapidation claims, planned maintenance programs, and technical reports in line with RICS guidance.
- Assess the condition of known asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) listed on asbestos registers (sampling not required).
- A P402 asbestos qualification is preferred, or willingness to obtain it promptly.
- Plan and manage own workload with a high level of autonomy, including frequent travel across Devon.
- Ideal candidates should have knowledge of RICS guidance, including Building Surveys and Technical Due Diligence of Commercial Property and Surveying Assets in the Built Environment.

You will showcase your suitability through:

- Ideally holding a degree in a building surveying-related discipline and actively working towards Chartered Membership with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
- A minimum of three years’ experience in building fabric condition surveying within commercial properties.
- A solid understanding of Building Regulations, Health & Safety standards, and other relevant construction and building surveying legislation.
- Possessing at least a P402 asbestos qualification.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively engage and negotiate with both internal and external parties at all levels.
- The capability to work independently with minimal supervision or collaboratively within a large multi-disciplinary team.
