Sheet Metal Worker / Aircraft Structures TechnicianLocation: Exeter AirportSalary: £37,000 Syntech Recruitment is proud to partner with one of Europe's leading Maintenance Repair Organisations (MRO), operating from Exeter Airport. We are currently looking for an experienced Sheet Metal Worker / Aircraft Structures Technician to join the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the repair and modification of aircraft structures and structural components, ensuring all work is carried out to the highest quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform repair and modification work on aircraft structures and structural components as per airworthiness standards.
  • Complete assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner to maximise output.
  • Ensure all work completed is signed off as required and recorded on the appropriate paperwork.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety regulations at all times.
  • Maintain accurate system updates and handovers to ensure smooth communication between shifts.
  • Check that all technical documentation is up to date and used appropriately during tasks.
  • Ensure proper use and control of aircraft parts, tools, and materials.
  • Keep the work area clean and orderly to promote a safe working environment.
  • Assist in the development of new capabilities within the sheet metal unit.
  • Report any technical or airworthiness issues to the Team Leader.
  • Participate in the training and mentoring of junior staff and apprentices as required.
Essential Requirements:
  • Completed a recognised apprenticeship or traineeship in aircraft structures/sheet metal.
  • Recent experience with sheet metal work and structural repairs in the aviation industry.
  • Competence in the repair and overhaul of sheet metal components.
  • Ability to interpret and follow maintenance manuals, engineering drawings, and task cards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer literacy and willingness to adapt to new systems and procedures.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Ability to pass a 5-year security background check.
  • Eligible to live and work in the United Kingdom without restriction.
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience with sheet metal tools and equipment, such as guillotines, folders, band saws, pillar drills, and riveting techniques.
