Our client is a large local government organisation and looking for an experienced Diesel Fitter / Mechanic to join their team

This is initially a 3 month contract which may be extended for the right candidate

You will

• To service specialist large goods fleet in line with the Vehicle Operating Standards Agency (VOSA) legislation. To maintain standard set out above between service intervals.

• To attend to vehicle breakdowns, to diagnose fault and to repair as necessary. To identify parts required to research competitive price and to order parts required.

• To prepare all vehicles ready to undergo MOT (Ministry of Transport) inspection, this can include fitting new parts, welding, steam cleaning, fault repair, minor bodywork repairs.

• To record repairs and maintenance to all vehicles on an official form (provided by outside body) and to maintain accurate records to each vehicle for the life of that vehicle.

• To keep clean, at all times, the vehicle workshop area complying with Health and Safety legislation. To restrict access to unauthorised parties. To ensure workshop is left secure whilst away from the depot.

• To comply with relevant Health and Safety legislation, policies and procedures.

• To maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate.
