Adecco are pleased to be recruiting for an Executive Assistant to join Devon & Cornwall Police at their Middlemoor HQ.

This would be a temporary post initially until June 2025. You would be working Monday - Friday, office hours. This is a fully office based role. The rate is 15.09 per hour.

The principal responsibility of the Executive Assistant is to provide key organisational and business support to a dedicated member of the Force Executive, managing the daily activity and delivery of the Executive's portfolio commitments and responsibilities.

In particular:

  • Providing high level, critical professional and effective personal support to a dedicated member of the operational and non-operational Force Executive.
  • Manage the daily activity and delivery of the Executive's portfolio responsibilities, to include constant prioritisation of workload and risk.
  • Acting as an internal and external gateway into the Executive, assessing and adding value to strategy and business plans from the NPCC, OPCC and partners.
  • Working with stakeholders to deliver the Force, regional and national responsibilities of the principal and contributing to the work of their portfolio.
  • Working in an agile manner with minimal supervision within a team environment, the role manages the daily activity and delivery of the Executive's portfolio responsibilities and commitments making unanimous and unilateral decisions.
  • Providing critical incident cover, when necessary, to meet the dynamic requirements of the Executive.
  • Maintaining the reputation of the Force and the Executive and safeguarding the identity and management of corporate risks by the Executive and business.
  • Managing bespoke Force level portfolios and co-ordinating project activity.
  • Prioritising and filtering information from a variety of sources, deciding on how that information will be actioned and progressed.
  • Plan, organise and manage Force, regional and national level meetings, conferences and National Police Chiefs' Council portfolio led meetings, internally and remotely, to deliver the respective agendas.
  • Providing and creating clear and concise briefings prior to meetings, as well as more complex and bespoke correspondence, whilst maintaining the appropriate level of security and sensitivity of the material.

Criteria:

  • Due to Police Criteria, you must have lived in the UK for at least the last 3 years continuously.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise a high-volume workload and a proven ability to work effectively without close supervision in a team environment.
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing, dynamic situation for example prioritising and rearranging scheduled work to attend and co-ordinate strategically important and sensitive meetings.
  • Experience of working in a similar environment assisting at senior management level with strong communication and customer care skills.
  • The ability to draft grammatically correct and concise English with attention to detail and to explain complex processes in simple language.
  • IT literate with demonstrable skills, in particular the use of Microsoft Office applications and proficiency in document layout.
  • Demonstrable ability to gather information from a number of sources and present it in an appropriate manner.
  • The ability to record accurate notes/minutes of meetings, with good powers of summary and paraphrasing.
