We are currently partnering with an esteemed public sector client in the recruitment of a Finance Business Partner to join their Finance Business Support team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, qualified accountant to play a key role in shaping the financial strategy of a high-profile organisation.
As a Finance Business Partner, you will work closely with senior leaders and department heads to deliver expert financial guidance, support decision-making, and ensure effective financial management. You will lead on VAT processes, including managing quarterly VAT returns and addressing VAT-related queries, while also taking ownership of key financial control areas such as budgeting, forecasting, and expenditure management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Collaboration: Partner with department heads and senior managers to understand financial needs and provide tailored financial advice to support key decisions.
- VAT Leadership: Take the lead on VAT management, including overseeing quarterly VAT returns and triaging VAT queries across the organisation.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and managing expectations.
- Expenditure Control: Monitor and challenge expenditure in line with approved budgets to ensure financial discipline and sound management.
- Financial Planning & Forecasting: Assist with the development of budgets, forecasts, and financial plans, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and risk management.
Essential Qualifications & Skills:
- A qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with relevant post-qualification experience.
- VAT expertise and experience in tax management, particularly with VAT returns and related queries.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and challenge senior leaders and stakeholders.
- Strong capability to explain complex financial concepts to both finance and non-finance colleagues.
- A proactive, solutions-focused attitude with a desire to challenge the status quo and improve financial practices.
