Our client is seeking a fully qualified and experienced, hands-on Head of Finance (Family Office) to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis.

As the Head of Finance (Family Office), you will play a key role in managing and developing financial, administrative, and technical tasks for trusts, estates, and corporate entities, covering accounting, company secretarial duties, tax compliance, and property management. This role offers the opportunity for increased responsibilities as current leadership retires.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to manage key relationships with various stakeholders, including mostly members of the Controlling Family.

The responsibilities:

  • Oversee tax returns, manage transactions, provide investment advice, and supervise staff.
  • Coordinate with auditors and banks, mentor staff, and support technical development.
  • Prepare tax returns, manage TRS records, ensure AML compliance, and coordinate with external firms.
  • Advise on structuring trusts and estates to minimize tax liabilities.
  • Work with agents on lettings and development projects, ensuring accurate accounting.
  • Manage share registers, transfers, dividends, the accounting and other records for various Family Companies.
  • Oversee AGM preparation and liaise with auditors and advisers.
  • Maintain IT systems and backups, and coordinate with IT support for security.
  • Oversee charity accounting activities.
  • Effectively communicate with stakeholders and provide confidential advice.

The candidate:

  • Must be a fully qualified Chartered Accountant with extensive experience in tax compliance and tax software systems.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in company secretarial duties, including share valuation and managing company records.
  • Strong familiarity with trust and estate law, inheritance tax, and trust registration requirements.
  • Some experience in property management, including tenancies, purchases, and sales would be helpful.
  • Exhibit strong organisational and management skills, with a good degree of IT proficiency and robust man-management abilities.
