Operational Risk Manager - Insurance/Financial Services - Southwest - Hybrid - Excellent Bens

Are you a Risk Manager who has a background in the Big 4/advisory business, looking for a role in industry? Or do you work for an insurance provider and looking to work in a smaller, transforming and friendly business. Where you and the customer are at the heart of everything they do?

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Insurance Risk Manager to join the risk team, reporting directly into the SMF4, Chief Risk Officer.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

  • To support the Chief risk officer to provide specialist risk management advice and support for the business
  • Ensuring the risk and control frameworks of the organisation are managed, maintained, updated, and are operating effectively.
  • To manage risk within the company by ensuring that the company’s risk framework meets its regulatory obligations.
  • To reinforce good conduct and the organisation’s brand values across the business.

Managing Projects

  • Support in the contribution of the organisation’s business plan and delivery of strategic framework as required.
  • Champion and support in managing change by promoting a challenging and flexible environment.
  • Lead and manage projects as required by the organisation

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Significant financial services experience and sound knowledge of the financial service’s regulatory environment.
  • Must have previous experience of operating at a manager level within a financial services risk function, ideally insurance.
  • Considerable knowledge and experience of best practice risk management and governance frameworks, methodologies, and emerging practice in a UK financial services context
  • Proven market and product expertise in individual income protection and private medical insurance an advantage
  • Strong commercial insight, understanding of the long-term strategy with the technical ability to exercise oversight over risk, compliance, and control arrangements.

  • Leadership skills, including the ability to manage risk and control activities in a complex financial services environment.
