SHEQ ManagerDevonPermanent Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality Manager required for a respected developer in Devon!This is a newly created position, with the opportunity to work closely with internal teams to bring in processes and procedures and be at the forefront of leading excellent examples of health and safety on site, and a high standard of quality. You will be required to conduct regular inspections once a month on average attending each site twice a month in relation to audits and inspections.  Circa 5 – 7 sites running concurrently. You will champion sustainability obligations at the pre development stage and work with internal teams to discharge conditions, as well as deliver the environmental obligations on behalf of the business. Instil a positive attitude to prevention of accidents within the business whether this is on site or in the office. Ensure sites are set up correctly from commencement, with signage, notices, documents and instructions in place. Check compliance is being adhered to Summary of Duties:
  • Checking compliance with health, safety and environment policy arrangements and IMS procedures as part of the inspection and auditing process.
  • Providing support, advice and guidance to all as appropriate.
  • Undertaking regular health, safety and environment inspections and audits, the results of which are to be recorded and discussed with regional management together with recommendations for improvement.
  • Attending and maintaining appropriate health, safety and environment training in conjunction with the regional training department.
  • If necessary, ceasing work activities that pose a risk of serious injury or damage to the environment and assisting with an improvement action plan.      
  • Liaising with enforcing authorities and other such statutory bodies.
  • Arranging and chairing regular health, safety and environment meetings.
Qualifications required
  • Relevant construction related degree or HNC preferred
  • NEBOSH
  • Ideally IOSH Membership
  • Experience of working with ISO 9001, 45001 and 14001
Experience and attributes required
  • Essential to have experience in a H&S or SHEQ role
  • Proven background in construction ideally housebuilding
  • Experience in carrying out hands on site inspections and audits
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Team player
  • Organised and detailed approach
  • Ability to inspire and motivate teams!
Please be aware regular travel to sites will be required throughout the South West region, as well as office working. A competitive salary and package is on offer for suitable experienced and qualified individuals.
