Technical Coordinator (Construction/Design) Salary: £40,000-45,000 per annum + Car allowanceLocation: South WestAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Technical Coordinator to join a rapidly expanding housing developer, based at their head office in the South West. This full-time role is pivotal in ensuring that high-quality housing developments are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of design and construction.The RoleAs Technical Coordinator, you will report directly to the Head of Technical and play a key role in managing and coordinating consultant designs to meet client and customer obligations. You’ll ensure that accurate design information is provided to operational teams, keeping the project on schedule while ensuring commercial targets are met. Through value engineering, you will ensure best value is achieved, balancing cost, quality, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.You’ll work closely with procurement and operational teams, managing the flow of information so that construction progresses smoothly and in line with all regulations, programme requirements, and cost parameters. You will also manage the design team, ensuring all designs meet current good practice, reflect the company’s requirements, and are constructed according to the agreed plans.Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and coordinate consultant designs to ensure projects meet all client, customer, and company obligations.
  • Manage the flow of design information to construction and commercial teams, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Monitor and action Information Requests to keep the design process moving.
  • Produce and distribute detailed design team meeting minutes and maintain up-to-date Design Management Plans.
  • Work with the Head of Technical to prepare regular progress reports on the status of design deliverables.
  • Oversee and guide the work of external consultants, ensuring designs are practical, compliant, and cost-effective.
What We’re Looking ForWe are seeking a candidate who is driven by excellence and keen to contribute to delivering high-quality homes. The ideal candidate will have:
  • A construction or design-related qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) or equivalent professional experience.
  • Membership in a relevant professional body (CIOB, RIBA, RICS) is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong experience in new-build residential projects, with a proven track record of managing designers and consultants.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and other design software.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, able to find solutions and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
