Devon County Council is seeking a Family Intervention Practitioner to join their team. This is a family-facing role, so flexibility and the ability to visit families in their homes is essential. The position requires attendance at the office 2-3 days a week.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct, intensive support to a mixed caseload of children, their families, and carers, working alongside other professionals to deliver practical interventions that help children remain safely at home or in other suitable accommodation.
  • Work with families in crisis, applying a short-term intensive intervention model, with some cases requiring longer-term support.
  • Assess, monitor, and manage risks to and from children and young people, ensuring that any concerns are escalated appropriately.
  • Engage with the whole family, including absent parents and extended family members, to ensure comprehensive support.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with challenging and resistant families in various settings.
  • Experience supporting children and young people, including those exhibiting challenging behaviours.
  • Relevant qualification in Health, Social Work, Education, Youth Work, or a related field (Level 3 or higher).
  • A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
