About the Role:

Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? We are looking for a dedicated Community Safety Officer to join our client's Environmental Health and Community Safety team. In this dynamic role, you will be at the forefront of tackling anti-social behaviour, environmental crime, and unauthorised encampments. You'll work closely with a wide range of partners, including the Police, local councils, health services, and community organisations, to ensure a safer and more cohesive environment for all.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate Incidents: Handle complaints and incidents related to anti-social behaviour and environmental crime from initial referral through to resolution. This includes supporting victims, mediating disputes, and taking legal action where necessary.
  • Community Engagement: Maintain a visible presence within the community, proactively addressing concerns from residents, businesses, and visitors.
  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Coordinate multi-agency responses to anti-social behaviour, developing preventative and diversionary measures to reduce its occurrence.
  • Case Management: Accurately record and monitor incidents, ensuring thorough documentation for potential legal proceedings.
  • Enforcement: Issue Fixed Penalty Notices and gather robust evidence to support formal action, including court appearances when required.
  • Support & Guidance: Signpost individuals to appropriate support services when vulnerabilities are identified, ensuring a holistic approach to community safety.

What We're Looking For:

  • Qualifications & Knowledge:
    • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification and experience in Anti-Social Behaviour (Essential).
    • Up-to-date training and knowledge demonstrated through CPD certificates (Essential).
  • Experience & Skills:
    • Proven experience in investigating anti-social behaviour complaints (Essential).
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (Essential).
    • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team (Essential).
    • Experience working with partner organisations and knowledge of legal procedures related to anti-social behaviour (Essential).
  • Special Requirements & Attitude:
    • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision (Essential).
    • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to handle confrontational situations calmly and professionally (Essential).
    • Physically fit and mobile, with the ability to perform foot patrols and dirty manual tasks (Essential).
    • Full clean driving licence and willingness to work a shift pattern, including police vetting (Essential).
