The Production Team Manager reports directly to the Production Manager and takes a proactive role in overseeing Mill Operations during their shift. This includes ensuring Health & Safety (H&S) protocols are followed, managing communication with other departments both formally and informally, and conducting daily tier accountability reviews to identify actions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Supervise a team of three, providing guidance and support.
  • Shift Management: Oversee all mill activities during the shift, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with all regulations.
  • Customer Complaints: Investigate and resolve customer complaints in a timely and effective manner.
  • Production Targets: Ensure the production plan is executed on time, within budget, and to the specified quality standards.
  • Shift Staffing: Ensure sufficient staffing levels, manage planned/unplanned absences, and update the Workday system accordingly.
  • Back to Work Interviews: Conduct timely and effective back-to-work interviews, adhering to company standards.
  • Work Hours Monitoring: Manage and monitor team working hours to ensure compliance with annualized hour requirements.
  • Accident Investigations: Lead accident investigations when necessary, inputting findings into the Intergrum system promptly.
  • Machine Performance: Ensure that all machines and systems are operated to optimize their performance.
  • Efficiency Improvements: Use the DSL system to identify and implement improvements in operational efficiency.
  • Cross-department Communication: Maintain clear communication with other departments, both formally and informally, as needed.
  • H&S Inspections: Oversee weekly H&S inspections to ensure they align with the confirmed schedule.
  • Hygiene Standards: Ensure the mill maintains high hygiene standards throughout the shift.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to UFAS codes of practice and other site processes/standards.
  • Tier 1 Accountability: Lead daily Tier 1 accountability reviews, ensuring timely completion of actions and maintaining accurate records/reports.
  • Training & Development: Manage team training, maintain training records, and identify areas for development.
  • Health & Safety Maintenance: Ensure ongoing high H&S standards and communicate any issues promptly.
  • Environmental Compliance: Ensure compliance with the Environmental Management System, adhering to BS EN ISO 14001/50001.
  • 5S Process: Lead and manage the implementation of the 5S process.
  • Disciplinary Management: Handle informal counseling and initial disciplinary reviews when necessary.

Shift Pattern:

  • 4 on 4 off
  • 12 hour shifts
  • Days and Nights
