Payroll Manager - The Role:

Reporting to the CFO, you’ll be working as part of a friendly, dedicated finance team, and at a time of growth. Duties will include:

  • Managing and developing a small payroll team responsible for a payroll of c1000 employees, this will be increasing to c1500 employees in the next 6 months due to TUPE of staff into the organisation.
  • Responsible for the timely input of payroll data including overseeing the calculation of maternity, paternity, overtime, overpayments and emergency payments as well as starters and leavers.
  • Ensuring the accurate application of pay rises and additional pay increases.
  • Reviewing the monthly payroll and overseeing the BACs file for the pay run.
  • Leading on the payroll and pensions processes, ensuring accurate monthly pension & HMRC reporting and submissions
  • Payroll reporting for senior management team, including variances, overtime reporting, etc.
  • Handling complex salary pensions and tax queries and explaining information to employees.
  • Leading on the improvement of payroll systems and processes including the employee Self-Service Portal and associated workflows.
  • Responsible for managing and maintaining two pension schemes accurately.
  • Compiling and fully auditing pension information including starters, leavers, and changes, submit monthly and annual returns and resolve queries arising.
  • Liaising with finance in relation to budget monitoring of staff costs.
  • Liaising with HR to ensure HR compliance in terms of legislation, policies and procedures.

Payroll Manager - The Rewards:

Salary: £37,000 - £41,500pa

Benefits: 26 days holiday + bank holidays, superb pension scheme, work from home

Hours: 37 hrs per week, Mon - Fri

Location: Home based in Devon /Somerset/Cornwall - you'll need your own transport to visit sites in Exeter and North Devon.

Payroll Manager - The Person:

We are keen to hear from payroll professionals with current experience of managing payroll and pension functions.

You’ll be a first-rate communicator able to lead and positively manage and empower others to achieve.

You will enjoy using your expertise - able to see the bigger picture and plan ahead whilst also being hands on to deliver an accurate and timely payroll and pensions function.

A natural problem-solver with excellent attention to detail, you will also possess experience of working with payroll software.

You will be a self-starter with a high energy approach and a desire to work in a fast-paced changing organisation.

You will be a team player and enjoy working in a collaborative manner with colleagues at all levels in the business.
