Our client is looking for a Mechanical Fitter to join their Maintenance team based in Exeter. The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical and ventilation plant rooms and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. This role involves planning, management and development of the site and ensuring it is fit for purpose.

you will be responsible for carrying out an exceptionally diverse range of tasks including inspection, testing, reactive and planned maintenance of electrical, mechanical plant installations. Fire alarms and emergency lighting, commercial and domestic electric and gas appliances, gas supply, air-conditioning and ventilation systems, pressure systems, firefighting equipment, carpentry and joinery, locking and security systems, plumbing, masonry works, road and footpath repairs, fencing works, painting and decorating and roof repairs

The working hours are 08:00AM- 4.30PM Monday to Friday with a potential opportunity for weekend work.

Roles and Responsibilities for a Mechanical Fitter

  • To carry out a range of planned maintenance and reactive tasks as directed.
  • To complete PPM tasks that fall within your capabilities based on in-house or external training. Liaising with other Maintenance staff, Customers, Students etc. to ensure works are completed and issues dealt with accordingly.
  • Participate in an emergency out-of-hours call-out Rota if requested, a standby allowance will be payable.
  • Record actions and time logged on works, completing the necessary paperwork or entering details into mobile systems
  • Have IT skills and experience with communication devices and /or Ability to read, follow and understand technical drawings. Excellent problem-solving skills. be prepared to train in handheld devices. Customer focused good communication and interpersonal skills

Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Understand Complex hot and cold-water systems, and components, and heating system types and formats from standard two pipe single pipe, underfloor heating, ceiling, LTH, VT, CT
  • Experience in mechanical and ventilation plant rooms. Experience in commercial plumbing and ability to install and commission mechanical plumbing installations.
  • Proven track record for servicing, maintaining and fault finding on natural gas appliances commercial and domestic
