Beach Baker is assisting a well-established consultancy to onboard an ambitious Associate Town Planner to join their team in Exeter, working across a diverse range of projects and sectors. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, actively pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Lead on planning applications, appeals, and provide expert witness services when required.
  • Offer strategic advice, ensuring the successful delivery of master plans and development frameworks.
  • Manage a variety of projects, overseeing the planning process from initial strategy to completion.
  • Provide innovative and strategic solutions to support clients across multiple sectors.

Areas of Focus:

  • Residential Development: Guiding projects from early-stage planning through to completion.
  • Strategic Land: Promoting land for development and conducting appraisals to unlock potential value.
  • Urban Regeneration: Shaping the future of cities through master planning and tall buildings projects.
  • Specialist Accommodation: Leading on projects for student housing and other unique developments.
  • Commercial Property: Offering planning solutions for office spaces, retail, and mixed-use developments.
  • Industrial and Employment Hubs: Advising on logistics, warehousing, and other employment-based developments.
  • Leisure & Hospitality: Working on planning for leisure facilities, hotels, and tourism-related projects.
  • Sustainable Development: Providing planning expertise for energy, waste, and minerals sectors.
  • Healthcare & Public Services: Supporting the development of health care infrastructure and public service buildings.
  • Rural & Estate Planning: Assisting rural clients in managing and diversifying their land and estates.

Requirements:

  • Strong business development experience, with a proven ability to bring in new work.
  • Significant experience within the planning industry, ideally at the Principal / Associate Director level.
  • Thorough understanding of the UK planning system.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to represent clients in negotiations, appeals, and public hearings.
  • RTPI Chartered
