CAM Engineering Manager

The Opportunity:

The Engineering Manager leads and optimises the Estimating, Planning, and CAM Engineering teams to achieve production goals and ensure timely delivery. This includes strategic resource allocation and proactive customer collaboration to resolve potential manufacturing challenges before production begins. It is absolutely essential that the successful candidate offers a proven background within a CAD/CAM environment. This role demands a highly skilled individual with exceptional attention to detail and a dedication to continuous improvement, all within a secure and sensitive manufacturing context.

The Role:
  • You will oversee 3 main areas of this busy manufacturing environment: CAM Engineering, Planning and Estimating
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 17 engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and technical excellence.
  • Analyse existing processes, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimise efficiency and help reduce waste.
  • Take responsibility for departmental projects and ensure timely completion.
  • Generate and analyse statistical reports to track departmental performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • In liaison with team, develop and maintain training materials, including SOPs, guides, and job instructions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Develop and present key performance indicators (KPIs) to track department performance, measure progress against targets, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Over-ee the prioritisation and scheduling of jobs to meet critical deadlines and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including production, quality, sales, and purchasing, to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Have an understanding of budgetary management and control.
What you will bring to the Team:
  • Experience managing an engineering team within a CAD/CAM manufacturing plant
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detailHigh level of computer literacy with experiencein data analysis and statistical process control.Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field would be ideal.
