TSR Legal are currently partnering with a top tier legal 500 who are looking to recruit a Claims Handler/Paralegal to be based in the Exeter office. As a Claims Handler/Paralegal you will be responsible for providing claims handling, resolution, and management services for a leading professional indemnity firm.
Key Responsibilities of the role include:
- Investigating the professional liability claim's nature, assessing insurance policy coverage, and devising a strategy for resolution and setting insurer reserves based on likely outcomes.
- Maintaining close communication with insured parties and their insurance brokers to foster strong commercial relationships aligned with our client's brand values.
- Collaborating closely with the lawyers in Financial & Professional Risks team and escalating issues as necessary with our insurer client.
- Updating both electronic and paper records with claim details.
- Providing regular updates to insured parties and brokers verbally and in writing, adhering to client service level agreements.
- Proactively and efficiently managing claims.
- Undertaking additional duties as required, appropriate to the role's level.
Skill Set:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Advanced typing skills and the capability to produce correspondence and documentation independently.
- Experience in handling solicitors' claims.
- Familiarity with the claims handling (pre-litigation) aspects of a file.
- Previous experience in defending insurance claims.
