Responsibilities:

Provide a comprehensive legal service to the Chief Constables, officers, and staff of our client's organisation, as well as the Offices of the Police and Crime CommissionersOffer tactical and strategic advice on a wide range of legal issues

Collaborate with the three teams within the Legal Services Department: Litigation, Operations, and Vulnerability

Manage caseloads and provide proactive legal advice at a tactical and strategic levelHandle contentious matters, including civil claims, employment tribunals, inquests, and judicial review applicationsSupport operational cases, such as police officer misconduct cases, commercial and disclosure advice, and applications for legal proceedingsWork on civil preventative orders, collaborating with partner agencies to obtain necessary ordersOversee the provision of general advice to officers and staff through the 'duty advice scheme' and review advice drafted by Paralegals

Essential (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):

LLB (Hons) degree to second standard, or another degree to upper second standard with commendation if CPE has been passedQualified Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEXExperience handling contentious mattersComprehensive knowledge of legal principles, legislation, case law, legal systems, and police lawAbility to manage a diverse caseload and provide clear adviceStrong communication skills, both written and verbalHigh attention to detail and research skillsAbility to work effectively as part of a teamIT literate with the ability to navigate specialist databases and systems

Desirable (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):

Previous experience in a similar legal advisory roleDemonstrated ability to think critically and adapt to changing circumstancesFamiliarity with relevant technologies and case management systems
