Job Overview:
A unique opportunity has arisen within a growing rental division of an established pump manufacturer. Due to rapid expansion and continued success, we are seeking a Service Engineer to join our team in Exeter.
Reporting to the Depot Senior Engineer, this role will involve a mix of mechanical and electrical engineering tasks, both at the depot and in the field. You will be working on large diesel engines used to drive water pumps, with training provided on pump systems if required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations, ensuring risk assessments and method statements are followed.
- Plan and coordinate mechanical and electrical maintenance work efficiently.
- Liaise with customers to provide technical support and resolve issues.
- Undertake repairs and maintenance of the diesel-driven pump fleet.
- Fault find and diagnose issues throughout the mechanical/electrical process.
- Assist in keeping the pump fleet in world-class condition to ensure reliability.
- Prioritise and manage mechanical engineering tasks to minimise customer downtime.
- Assist in spares ordering and inventory management.
- Provide technical support to customers and colleagues.
- Participate in a callout rota as required.
- Check designs, materials, and equipment for conformity with project specifications.
- Manage maintenance planning and project inquiries.
Requirements:
- Qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (HNC, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
- Mechanical bias with electrical knowledge.
- Experience working with large diesel engines (OEM-trained with CAT, Perkins, Volvo, JCB preferred).
- Industry certifications such as Quarry Passport, CSCS Card (desirable).
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience in pump systems is an advantage, but training can be provided.
- Strong planning, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence required.
