Currently seeking a Senior Optical Design Engineer this exciting role represents a great opportunity to join the team. We are looking for a key member of the senior team to lead a crucial area of the R&D team’s work progressing optical amplifier designs for free space optical communication, with amplifiers designed for challenging applications both satellite and terrestrial-based.
Responsibilities:
- Be involved in the research, development and manufacturing phases of the Optical Engineering lifecycle.
- Lead the systems architecture and requirements.
- Optical design and development of simple and complex Electro-Optical Systems.
- Conduct lens and optical performance analysis/simulations.
- Ensure quality and consistency of detailed design, including numerical calculations, tolerance studies, etc.
- Support the integration and test of Electro-Optical Systems.
- Engagement with optical sub-contractor partners/suppliers.
- Involvement in reviews of optical designs in accordance with business and industry standards.
Requirements:
- In-depth knowledge of optical fibre lasers or fibre amplifiers or non-linear fibre-optics.
- BSc in and engineering discipline or physics.
- PhD is highly desirable
- Hands-on experience of the design and test of optical systems
