CNC Supervisor – Laser & Press Brake

gap personnel are currently recruiting for a CNC Supervisor – Laser & Press Brake

  • Annual salary of £30,000 – £32,000 DOE + up to a 5% Monthly Bonus after successful completion of probation.

Reporting to the Workshop Manager, each day you will be:

Supporting the Workshop Manager:

  • Assist in managing daily workshop operations, ensuring efficiency and productivity
  • Act as a point of contact between the Workshop Manager and CNC operators
  • Help implement process improvements and maintain production schedules

Supervisory & Leadership:

  • Oversee and support a team of CNC operators, ensuring high-quality output
  • Train and mentor operators in machine setup, operation, and safety procedures
  • Monitor performance, providing feedback and guidance to improve efficiency

Operations & Production:

  • Set up, program, and oversee Bystronic laser cutters and press brakes
  • Ensure machines run efficiently, making necessary adjustments
  • Maintain production flow, meeting delivery deadlines and minimising downtime

Quality & Maintenance:

  • Conduct inspections to ensure finished parts meet specifications
  • Identify and resolve machine or production issues promptly
  • Ensure CNC machines are calibrated, maintained, and in good working order
  • Enforce health & safety protocols in line with company policies

Process Improvement & Efficiency:

  • Assist the Workshop Manager in identifying and implementing workflow improvements
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimise productivity and quality

About you:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven experience as a CNC Supervisor or Lead Operator
  • Strong knowledge of Bystronic laser cutting machines and press brakes
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and CAD files
  • Good leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Experience with machine maintenance and troubleshooting

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Bystronic press brakes and laser cutting machines – or other manufacturers
  • Knowledge of sheet metal bending allowances and material properties
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and process optimisation
