As a result of continued expansion, and their continued ongoing success we are seeking a dynamic Plant Buyer to join their Gardens team. As part of a friendly passionate team you will play a crucial role in achieving ambitious growth plans and providing customers with a great range of products at competitive prices

About the role:

As Plant Buyer you will be accountable for the plants category that sits within our clients Gardens Department. Working closely with their Gardens Buyer, suppliers and in-house departments you will drive the range and offering to ensure the plant offer stays at the forefront of the UK market.

Responsibilities

  • You will have primary accountability for maximizing sales, margin & profitability in this fast moving category
  • You will translate and execute category strategies, own target KPI's and foster relationships with stakeholders
  • You will conduct market research to identify emerging trends, customer preference and competitor activities.
  • You will use insights to make informed decisions on product selection and positioning
  • You will have ultimate responsibility for the implementation of the product strategy and ensuring that the business meets with customer needs
  • You will work with your cross-functional teams to ensure we deliver great product availability and quality
  • You will ensure full adherence with all relevant statutory responsibilities related to the importation and sale of plants

Ideal Candidate

  • Experienced retail/wholesale buyer, ideally within a fast-moving organisation with retail outlet stores.
  • Demonstrable buying experience within plant categories, understand impact of wastage on the product.
  • Strong commercial and import knowledge of the plant category legislation.
  • Ability to analyse data with great attention to detail.
  • Proactive, hardworking and reliable.
  • Proven track record of successful supplier negotiation and contract management both UK & import.
  • Have the ability to build relationships and influence both internal and external stakeholders.
  • A true team player underpinned with great interpersonal skills
