Residential Support Worker

Devon County Council are looking for a Residential Support Worker to join one of their Secure Children's Homes in Exeter.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe, caring, stimulating and secure environment for children and young people who have experience significant trauma and deemed by the courts to need to be secured
  • To create an environment within the home that promotes positive respect for children, young people and staff
  • Encourage and enable children and young people to achieve their maximum potential
  • Carry out observations and assessments on young people; and provide information to the case coordinator
  • To take responsibility as the support worker in overseeing the personal care, welfare and health of children and young people
  • To assist in devising care, education and wellbeing plans

Requirements:

  • Experience of working with children and young people with challenging behaviours
  • Knowledge of child development and the impact of trauma
  • GCSE English (pass)
  • NVQ 3 relevant qualification
