Experienced Social Worker, Assessment & Intervention Team, DevonEmployer: Devon County CouncilLocation: Tiverton, Mid & East DevonPay Rate: Up to £44 per hour (Dependent on Experience)Working Arrangements: Hybrid – 5 days in the office during duty week, 3 days in the office during non-duty weekRole Overview:Pertemps is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join the Assessment & Intervention Team in Mid & East Devon. This is a fantastic opportunity to work directly with children, young people, and families to achieve positive, family-led outcomes, ensuring their safety, stability, and well-being.As Devon is currently under an Ofsted Improvement Plan, we require robust and experienced social workers who can bring best practice and high standards to the service, mentoring and modelling excellence to peers.Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct Child & Family Assessments and, where necessary, Section 47 Child Protection enquiries.
  • Work closely with families, professionals, and partner agencies to ensure children’s needs are met.
  • Support and implement family-led, strengths-based interventions to promote safety and stability.
  • Contribute to court proceedings and multi-agency safeguarding work.
  • Work in partnership with the Children & Families teams to ensure the best outcomes for children.
Working Arrangements:
  • Duty Week: Required in the office 5 days per week to support timely child visits, family interventions, and emergency cases (including Section 47 work).
  • Non-Duty Week: Required in the office 3 days per week, balancing direct work with remote flexibility.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Social Worker with SWE registration.
  • Significant post-qualifying experience in Children’s Services, ideally in Assessment & Intervention.
  • Strong understanding of Child Protection, safeguarding legislation, and court proceedings.
  • Experience working within a fast-paced team handling complex cases.
  • Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
