Role Overview:Ā The school is seeking enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to become part of their dynamic team. Whether candidates have experience in mainstream or specialist educational settings, the school is interested in hearing from them. They are particularly keen on individuals who are passionate about supporting children with SEN. Experience in a classroom is not essential, as comprehensive training and a thorough induction will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the classroom teacher in delivering tailored educational programs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Use communication aids such as Makaton, AAC, PECS, and Widget to support studentsā€™ learning and communication needs.
  • Engage with students using Read Write Inc. and Fresh Start programs.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students as needed.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility needs where necessary.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience working with children and young people in educational settings is desirable but not essential.
  • Life experiences that demonstrate resilience, empathy, and a willingness to ā€œmuck inā€ are highly valued.
  • Familiarity with communication aids such as Makaton, AAC, PECS, and Widget is advantageous.
  • Clear spoken English and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Patience, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
