As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs. You’ll work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create an inclusive and enriching educational experience. 

Responsibilities as a SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with SEN, adapting teaching methods to meet their unique requirements.
  • Assist teachers during lessons, ensuring students remain engaged and focused.
  • Implement behavior management strategies and promote positive behavior within the classroom.
  • Support students with personal care needs, as required.
  • Prepare and organise teaching materials, visual aids, and resources.
  • Work collaboratively with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), parents, and external agencies.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions.

Qualifications and Experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Relevant teaching assistant qualification (e.g., Certificate or Diploma in Childcare and Education).
  • Experience working with individuals with severe learning difficulties or other SEN.
  • Excellent communication skills and empathy.
