We are seeking a functional skills tutor to work for a fantastic provision we support, dedicated to helping young people with disabilities achieve their goals in work-related activities. Your primary focus will be in supporting the development of English and Maths skills (entry level to level 2).

What we’re looking for:

  • Must have experience in tutoring or teaching students

  • A minimum Level 4 qualification is required

  • Strong relationship building skills and creative approach to teaching is essential

  • Knowledge of Ofsted standards is important

  • Experience with students with special educational needs would be highly advantageous but is not essential

Please note that this role may involve travelling between bases, so a valid drivers licence and access to your own vehicle is essential.

Key responsibilities:

As a functional skills tutor, your role will involve supporting students in their journey toward employment, volunteering and further education by:

  • Delivering sessions on Maths, English, life skills and employability

  • Collaborating with the team to deliver college programmes

  • Assessing the needs of current and prospective students

  • Teaching in small groups or on a one-to-one basis

  • Identifying learning and training opportunities

  • Maintaining accurate records and reporting on student progress
