Job Description:

Job Title: Senior SEO Developer

Job Purpose:

  • This role is within the Transport Tribe who are responsible for building, maintaining and supporting systems that provide weather data services for the transport industry including Aviation, Rail and Marine.

  • The Transport Tribe is a DevOps tribe working on AWS infrastructure and make extensive use of the serverless technologies AWS offer. We use CDK heavily and our main language of choice is Python.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Programming & Build - Design, develop, test and document robust, maintainable & secure code using industry standard patterns as per features described on the backlog. Mentor junior software developers within the tribe providing guidance through code reviews and pair programming.
  • Systems design - Develop systems characterised by moderate levels of risk, impact, and both business and technical complexity. Choose suitable design standards, methodologies, and tools, ensuring their effective application. Evaluate the designs created by others to confirm the appropriate selection of technologies, efficient resource utilisation, and seamless integration of various systems and technologies.
  • Modern Standards - Apply a Modern standards approach in the tribe. Encourage technical curiosity in others. Write, maintain and improve automation pipelines for managing CI/CD working environments.
  • User focus - You can work with user researchers and advocate for users within the organisation. Clarify the distinction between what users need and what they want. Promote user research to consider all user groups. Set priorities and define strategies to comprehend the user story, mentoring others in this process.
  • Service Support - Identify, locate and fix faults within highly available critical operational services. Take an active role in supporting the tribe’s technical estate during working hours.

Experience Essential

  • Demonstrable experience of developing and testing software using Python with industry standard patterns.
  • Good knowledge and experience of using AWS serverless technologies (Lambda, StepFunctions, DynamoDB, S3, SNS, SQS, CloudWatch, APIGateway, RDS, CloudWatch) within production level IT Systems.
  • Proven knowledge and experience of building and deploying software into an AWS environment using CDK, codeBuild, codePipeline, Terraform
  • Experience of using GitHub workflows.
  • Experience of working in an Agile, cross functional customer-centric working environment.
  • Excellent communication skills that foster good working relationships with developers and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to support, mentor and train junior developers.

Desirable

  • Experience and understanding of Aviation based weather data and products.
  • Previous experience of building HTMX applications
