Our client, a thriving local family business, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Bookkeeper to join their small and dedicated team in Exmouth on a permanent basis.

As the Bookkeeper, you will be an integral part of the Finance team, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the Accounts function for the business and associated companies.

This opportunity offers great variety within day to day tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining and optimising the Purchase & Sales Ledger.
  • Completing Monthly/Quarterly/Annual statutory returns and accounts accurately and in a timely manner.
  • CIS Returns whilst maintaining good contractor relationships.
  • VAT returns in line with statutory guidance.
  • Bank reconciliations, Cash Receipts & BACS runs.
  • Monitoring & analysing accounting data and producing financial reports or statements.
  • Credit Control.
  • Ad hoc tasks as/when required.

The requirements:

  • Previous experience as an Accounts Manager, Accounting Supervisor, or Finance Manager.
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, ability to plan ahead and diarise key submission dates.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively within a small team.
  • Tact and discretion, willingness to undertake various tasks in support of the family's interests.
