We are currently seeking an experienced Heavy Vehicle Technician to join a leading Defence organisation. This role offers the unique opportunity to work on US military heavy vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate will be based in or near Fairford, UK, or within a commutable distance.
- Hourly Rate: PAYE: £25 - £35, Umbrella: £33 - £46

- Operate, repair, and maintain heavy power construction equipment such as compressors, pumps, hoists, shovels, trucks, tractors, graders, bulldozers, front-end loaders, scrapers, motor graders, skid steers, and associated equipment, including fire trucks.
- Perform heavy equipment maintenance activities including installation, repair, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance.
- Disassemble and reassemble engines and mechanical units to inspect and diagnose parts using computerized test equipment, calibration devices, gauges, etc.
- Repair and overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, including air conditioning systems.
- Calibrate load monitoring indicators to ensure safe and reliable lifts.
- Rebuild hydraulic cylinders, valves, planetary drive units, suspensions, springs, bushings, and kingpins.
- Act as point-of-contact for maintenance issues in the absence of Maintenance Supervisor or Foreman.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2-5 years of experience in operating and maintaining heavy equipment.
- Licensed or trained to operate applicable items of heavy equipment.
- Specialized knowledge and skills in diesel and heavy automotive repair and maintenance.
- Practical understanding of hydraulics (Pascal Theory), pulley, and gear ratios.
- Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of diagnostics and ability to conduct technical research on the computer.
- Prefer knowledge of US military heavy vehicles and equipment, and familiarity with OSHA, ANSI, ASME, military regulations standards, and OEM requirements.
