Job Description

Our client established in 1979 is seeking enthusiastic and motivated hydraulic engineers to apply for new and vacant positions at their newly appointed service centre located in Falmouth Cornwall.

Our clients is a specialist company providing hydraulic, electrical and mechanical services that include design, manufacturing, servicing and pipework solutions. The service centres and service engineers support a wide variety of applications and markets, including marine, aerospace, utilities, mobile and industrial.

We are seeking interest in applicants to support predominantly a marine based service outlet; we would also encourage applicants to apply who currently have either hydraulic or mechanical skills from industry and would be interested in becoming a hydraulic engineer and developing their skills set.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working predominantly in a small team locally but with opportunity to support a wide range of synergy engineering projects across the business. The Hydraulic engineer role requires the ideal candidate to be proficient in supporting a wide range of hydraulic engineering skills.

This includes fault diagnosis, manufacturing pipework solutions including hose assemblies, product knowledge to support a strip, survey and overhauls of hydraulic equipment/components.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work within the guidelines of the Company Quality Management System
  • Carry out engineering work at the clients service centre, on-site, and at customers premises, as requested by the line management.
  • Ensure that all work designated is completed to specification, in accordance with the Companys procedures and quality standards.
  • Ensure that workmanship is of the highest standard at all times, and satisfies the Companys and customers requirements
  • Ensure that all hydraulic equipment, system or component has been examined, repaired or serviced and properly tested in accordance with manufacturers recommendations, and approved by a nominated person at commissioning stage or prior to despatch.
  • Ensure that all installations included rigid or flexible pipework are completed in accordance with manufacturers recommendations.
  • Make every effort to ensure work is completed on-time and within budget, identifying additional work not included in the original estimate and reporting information to Engineering Manager.
  • Ensure that a full and accurate record of time spent on each activity is recorded on timesheets each week
  • Work with the Workshop and Service centre Manager to identify personal training needs, and undertake appropriate training programmes within work schedules
  • Ensure that all Health & Safety requirements are met & that the relevant Risk Assessments are completed and actioned
  • Ensure the workshop and all working areas are kept clean & tidy at all times

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act in a professional and responsible manner at all times when representing the Company
  • Take advantage of any further product or personal development opportunities offered by the company
  • Ensure timely completion of stock requisitions for all components removed from stock
  • To be available when required for off-site commissioning, service & repair work
  • To be prepared to work out of normal working hours when required
  • Ensure the safe-keeping, regular maintenance, and professional appearance of Company vehicles, tools and equipment
  • Adhere to Company Health & Safety policy

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

(Knowledge, skills, experience)

  • Thorough understanding of general engineering and hydraulic systems preferred or good engineering background in general mechanical engineering or marine/plant/agriculture equipment service work.
  • BFPA level 1 & 2 certificate in mobile / industrial hydraulics or a recognised time served apprenticeship or proven experience.
  • A basic understanding of electrics/electronics would be of benefit, but not essential
  • Understanding of Health and Safety requirements
  • Full clean driving licence

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: Core hours are Monday Thursday 08:00-17:00 and Friday 08:00-16:00
