CMA are currently working with a professional services organisation based in Fareham, Hampshire who are looking to appoint an Assistant Accountant. This is an exceptional opportunity for a candidate who possesses a strong technical understanding of accounting and financial reporting and now looking for a hands-on opportunity to take that next step into an Assistant Accountant role. An ambitious, proactive work ethos and a desire to learn is essential to the success of the role.  

What will the Assistant Accountant role involve? 

  • Preparation of periodic financial statements, cash flows;  

  • Compile and analyse financial information underlying the financial statements, including the treatment of business transactions; 

  • Preparation of asset level management reporting and seeking new ways to provide informative and concise information;  

  • Dealing with year-end audit including preparation of relevant files and resolving issues;  

  • Collect appropriate data and preparing HMRC submissions (VAT & CIS) and tax returns. 

Suitable Candidate for the Assistant Accountant vacancy: 

  • Actively studying ACCA / CIMA / ACA; 

  • Experience of assisting in the production of financial accounts; 

  • Good Microsoft Excel skills – Minimum pivot table and look ups; 

  • Confident verbal and written communication skills; 

  • Good team working skills and a positive, pro-active attitude; 

  • Ability to plan, prioritise and organise own workload with established timescales.
