This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer to develop and manage the creation of complex technical designs, and to project manage various schemes across a diverse range of clients.
Our client is heavily involved in a multitude of projects at various stages in their project lifecycle, from appraisal through to construction, and in several different sectors including residential, commercial, and retirement & care. The role
- Work within a Civil Engineering design team responsible for the design of drainage systems, highway layouts, and S278/S38 schemes,
- Work in a design office, with regular exposure to developers, architects and local authorities.
- Understand the company’s services, market sectors, specialisms, procedures and processes
- Have knowledge of and willing to learn other engineering software
- Reviewing of junior team members reports, design and drawing work
- Attend client meetings and site visits
- Co-operate with the Quality Management System (QMS) through undertaking administrative activities
- Mentoring and training of junior staff
- Develop marketing and business development material appropriate to the role
- Identify opportunities for bringing work into the business and team and follow up on these opportunities
- Attend and actively engage at networking events with senior team members.
- Undertake and manage team resource for design work for; Drainage systems in accordance with Sewers for Adoption, building regulations and the SuDS Manual. And on and off-site highway features, in accordance with the appropriate standards and codes e.g. Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, and Manual for Streets
- Be responsible for writing fee proposals
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Site 3D or equivalent 3D software
What you need to succeed
- Incorporated Engineer (IEng) [or working towards] with the Institution of Civil Engineers
- A degree or HND in Civil Engineering
- 5+ years’ consultancy experience
- Experience working with local authorities, developers and architects on civil engineering aspects of residential, commercial and retirement/care schemes
- Varied experience working on schemes through the planning process; from pre-app through to condition discharge
- Civil engineering project management experience including projects combining drainage, external works and highways elements.
