Works Manager - Leading Civil Engineering Contractor - Hampshire - Major Highways Project

My client is a Leading Top Tier Civil Engineering Contractor.

They have secured a large highways project in South Hampshire and are seeking reinforcements.

They are looking to recruit an experienced 'Works Manager' to assist in the timely delivery of the project

This project is valued at circa £80m and involves bulk earthworks, a new highway underpass and access roads, new highway construction, deep and shallow drainage, utility diversions and installation, culverts and other structures and much more.

The project has a programme of at least 24 months.

Beyond this project, this contractor has secured another major highways project near Winchester which will guarantee work in Hampshire for the next 4-5 years.

*The company would be prepared to offer a subsistence package to those residing beyond a commutable daily distance to the project.

Role Description:

  • Daily planning of project works and resource management
  • Managing the quality of work by direct labour and subcontractors
  • Liaising with key stakeholders and attend liaison meetings.
  • Setting up regular and clear lines of communication to address issues that may arise.
  • Reporting to the Senior Project Manager each month, or as frequently agreed, on progress and all commercial matters.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and secure site at all times
  • Assisting the Project Manager with the implementation and management of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures
  • Directing and managing all site-based activities

Requirements:

  • NVQ L6/7 in Construction Management and/or HND/HNC in Civil Engineering (not essential)
  • Strong project management background on civil engineering projects, specifically Highways and Infrastructure, 278 Works
  • Excellent supervision and organisational skills
  • Experience in successfully managing relationships with stakeholders and members of the public
  • Proven management skills and ability to manage a project effectively and efficiently, delivering high outputs and exceeding our client's expectations
